Capitalism and Media

To start with the definition of capitalism, it is known to be an economic order where the country’s industry, trades, and profits are mostly controlled by people in higher power and positions. Also, the distributions and productions are privately and corporately owned and the people do determine where they want to invest, what to produce and sell, all of the planning and strategies are up to them to decide and not the government. Other than that there is this new form of expression which is the media, that helped many in exploring and communicating with others through the websites available, or even by the newspapers and television channels. Recently in modern days, the capitalist system and communication through media were both combined and able to perform together while holding negative and positive effects on society. The system of capitalism could be a factor in affecting the media in an ethically troubling way, for example, because mass media corporations are capitalistic organizations, they tend not to declare or expose any news and compromising pieces of data about the private sector and the governments only in fear of getting attacked or prevented from access any other news and reports that are in relation with the private sector.
Moreover, the journalists are not fully free in sharing their thoughts and studies since the private sector relies on them to present a clear and safe picture. Other than that, Marx has explained in his writings that the public has been oriented and controlled by the information they receive from the television programs. (Marx, n.d.)
